- Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson told MMAWeekly.com that he re-broke his leg in training. The break will postpone his return and rematch with interim champion Gilbert Melendez yet again, which has already been postponed twice.
“I was really just playing around, just working on my technique, and this kid, this little blue belt, grabbed a leglock—I was wearing a gi—and I couldn’t slide my leg out," Thomson stated. "He just bellied out on the leglock in the standing position and you just heard the bone go crunch. The hairline fracture turned into an actual break.”
- This past Wednesday's episode of The Ultimate Fighter drew a 2.2 rating and 2.9 million viewers, down 29% from the season premiere. While a drop from last week's record-breaking episode, which drew a 2.9 rating and 4.1 million viewers, was expected, it was still good enough to become the second highest rated episode in the history of the show. Next week's episode of the series should break all records, as Roy Nelson faces Kimbo Slice on that broadcast. The fight is Kimbo's first since losing to Seth Petruzelli in 14 seconds via TKO at EliteXC: Heat last October.
- The Mayweather - Marquez fight drew big numberrs, with preliminary estimates putting it at 1 million pay-per-view buys. That's still a far cry from the 1.72 million buys garnered by UFC 100, however it easily bested UFC 103, which it aired head-to-head with. Dave Meltzer of Yahoo! Sports is reporting that UFC 103 is currently estimated at around 375,000 buys.
