Matt Hughes Talks About Signing His "Last" UFC Contract
Matt Hughes Talks About Signing His "Last" UFC Contract As reported last week, former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes has quietly inked a multi-fight contract extension that will have the 35-year-old ending his illustrious career with the organization where he made his legendary name.

“Last week I went out to Vegas and I signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC, which is much like my last contract,” Hughes posted on his official website. “I also brought up the fact that I wanted to do a hunting show and they thought that would be a good thing.”

Hughes, who was dubbed “The Best Welterweight of all Time” by UFC president Dana White when he was making his dominating run through its welterweight class, owns a enviable 43-7 MMA record and is a surefire Hall of Famer when it’s all said and done.

He was last seen dominating bitter rival Matt Serra at UFC 98 this past May, and it’s been business as usual since then. He isn’t sure who he will face next or when that scrap will be, however he anticipates that it will be a new challenge.

“They still have to find out who, where and when my next fight will be, and I will try to post that info ASAP,” Hughes said. “Nothing is decided yet, so anything you might be reading on the internet right now is just rumors and speculation. However, one name the UFC did bring up is a person I’ve never fought before.”
