Many had speculated that the Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra fight at UFC 98 would be Hughes’ last fight. Hughes announced his intent to continue his career after the bout, and wrote this week that he signed a new multi-fight deal with the UFC.
"Last week I went out to Vegas and I signed a multi-fight deal with the UFC,” Hughes noted on his blog.
At this time, no opponent has been announced for the former welterweight champion. However, Hughes did admit that one potential opponent was mentioned to him.
"Nothing is decided yet, so anything you might be reading on the internet right now is just rumors and speculation," he blogged. "However, one name the UFC did bring up is a person I’ve never fought before."
Hughes last fought at UFC 98, where he defeated rival Matt Serra via unanimous decision.
