Staying Relaxed Is The Key For Forrest Griffin
Staying Relaxed Is The Key For Forrest Griffin Sure former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin isn’t fighting for a title tomorrow at UFC 101, but he’s coming off of a loss which cost him his. Oh yeah, he’s also about to face arguably the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet.

“I mean if you just look at the way he fights, he’s always relaxed,” Griffin stated of Anderson Silva’s nonchalant ways. “He’s completely composed, just relaxed, just not wasting any energy, just moving and actually waiting for his opening you know.”

For a frenetic fighter like Griffin, a composed and relaxed striker such as Silva could very well be his downfall. Griffin rarely holds back in his fights, while Silva has recently shown a tendency to wait for his opponents to overexert themselves before he goes off.

“You’ve got to come in smart and just trying to land punches, not big ones; little ones,” Forrest said of his game plan. “Just make contact and stay as loose and relaxed as he does.”

We’re not quite sure if Griffin has a “relaxed” switch, but this would be an interesting time for him to test it out as Silva’s going to be looking to cement himself once again as the world’s greatest fighter, especially after two subpar showings against Patrick Cote and Thales Leites.
