Josh Barnett's B-Sample Also Positive
Josh Barnett's B-Sample Also PositiveThe fiasco that has become Josh Barnett’s MMA career marches on as the California State Athletic Commission has revealed that the heavyweight’s B-sample has also come back positive for steroids.

Bill Douglas, assistant executive officer to the CSAC, confirmed Barnett’s results with MMAWeekly.com Friday afternoon.

Barnett submitted two pre-fight urine samples on June 25th as part of the Commission’s licensing process for his upcoming fight with Fedor Emelianenko at “Affliction: Trilogy” on August 1st.

Word broke last last Wednesday that Barnett’s A-sample had come back positive for 2a-methyl-5a-androstan-3a-ol-17-one, a compound of synthetic steroid Drostanolone. At that point, the CSAC refused to issue him a license for the title bout, ultimately putting an end to the show and Affliction as an MMA promotion.

Douglas states both samples were tested by CSAC’s new testing facility at the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) certified laboratory at UCLA.

Barnett hasn’t spoken publicly since single-handedly taking down Affliction Entertainment, however like a true professional, he has issued statements via his MySpace page and manager.

Both times he has professed his innocence, however this is the second time that Barnett has tested positive for a banned substance in his career. Are you starting to get the picture?

Nobody honestly thought the B-sample would say anything differently than the first sample, however Barnett’s camp was hoping for some inconsistencies which might open the door up for them to cry foul.

Douglas stated he hasn’t been alerted by Team Barnett on whether or not they intend to appeal the ruling, but did add that Barnett is not on the CSAC’s schedule for their next meeting on August 26th in Los Angeles.
