 The UFC had announced this past Monday that Rich Franklin was going to get a chance to avenge his UFC 93 split decision loss to Dan Henderson at UFC 103 in September, but it now appears the organization may be planning to move the main event bout. The fight is no longer listed on UFC.com.
“Ive heard the ufc pulled my fight off the website for 103. I dont kno y. They hvnt spoken to me @ this, n i assume the fight is still on,” Franklin Tweeted earlier this morning.
There’s no word yet on the reasoning behind the apparent change, but one can only assume that it has to do with yesterday’s official demise of Affliction Entertainment and Dana White’s July 31st press conference.
Word is the UFC may have inherited many Affliction fighters as part of the agreement and could announce several bouts with fighters who were scheduled to fight on the August 1st show. There were rumors that the UFC was hoping to get Franklin to face Tito Ortiz as well.
What we do know is that Franklin will still get a rematch against Henderson, but we just don’t know when or where it will go down.
We’ll have more on this story as it develops, which most likely will come around the time White holds his much anticipated press conference.
