UFC Will Ban Fighters Who Appear In EA Sports' MMA Game
By Tim Ngo | July 03, 2009
The banning spree continues for the world’s largest MMA promotion as word is surfacing that the UFChas sent out notice to all agents/managers that if a current non-UFC fighter appears on EA Sports’ MMA video game, they will never be in the UFC … ever.
A member from MixedMartialArts’ Underground Forums had this to say regarding the news:
“I hear that all mma managers were informed that if any of their clients not currently under contract with the UFC….. sign to be a part of the EA game…….they will forever be banned from fighting in the UFC.”
Ken Pavia from MMAAgents.com was able to confirm the news in a later post saying:
“It’s true. And they [the UFC] told me (they) want the word out.”
With no release date announced, it will be interesting to see how EA Sports handles the UFC’s stance on fighters not wanting to appear in the video game now that the UFC has threatened to blackball them.
EA Sports’ current response to G4 was, “We have no comment regarding the alleged UFC threats to fighters as it pertains to EA Sports MMA.”
