Ricardo Arona Set to Make MMA Return On September 12
Ricardo Arona Set to Make MMA Return On September 12Ending two years of inactivity, The “Brazilian Tiger” Ricardo Arona is set to make his return on September 12, 2009. According to Five Ounces of Pain, Arona is set to make his return at the Bitetti Combat IV event in Rio Di Janeiro against an unnamed opponent.

A product of the famed Brazilian Top Team, the 5’11” Arona boasts impressive credentials in both MMA and the submission world. Considered a strong grappler, Arona has won the much-coveted ADCC absolute championship in 2001. He has controlled his MMA matches in the same way, which causes some people to label Arona as a boring fighter. This reputation has caused hesitance on the part of promotions like the UFC in regards to signing the Brazilian.

Nonetheless, nobody can dispute Arona’s skill set. His Pride FC conquests have included wins over current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem, Murilo Rua, Kazushi Sakuraba, and Wanderlei Silva.

Ricardo Arona’s last fight at Pride 34 ended with a KO loss to Team Quest product Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou. With a few exciting wins, Arona could very well be on the comeback trail to the top of the MMA world once again.
