- We had reported yesterday that TJ Grant's fight with Rory Markham for The Ultimate Fighter Season 9 Finale this Saturday was off due to an injury Markham suffered during training, and Dong Hyun Kim's bout with Jonathan Goulet at UFC 100 was scrapped after Goulet dislocated his shoulder. The UFC made the best of it, and matched Grant vs. Hyun Kim at UFC 100 on July 11th. Because Grant was expecting to fight this Saturday, he will be extending his training camp for another four weeks.
- FightMetric has some interesting statistics about the Cheick Kongo - Cain Velasquez fight this past Saturday. According to the site, Velasquez landed 262 strikes on Kongo, of which 251 were to the head. Ouch!
- As reported earlier, Ray Mercer was pretty hard on his opponent Tim Sylvia, saying that "Tim ain't shit". Dana White was equally brutal, saying that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion would have to go on The Ultimate Fighter if he ever wanted to get back in the UFC.
"Are you kidding me?," White asked, when he heard about Sylvia's recent comments about wanting to return to the UFC one day.
"He seriously wants to return to the UFC? He hasn’t won a fight in years and when he did he usually put everyone to sleep. The only time he’s in an exciting fight is when he’s getting his [expletive] ass handed to him. Look, he just got beat by a near 50 year old in under 10 [expletive] seconds. How do you expect to be taken seriously after that? He just made MMA look like a complete joke. If he has any hopes of ending his career in (the) UFC he will have to go on TUF. There’s no other way he’s getting in."
