Mirko Cro Cop Backstabs UFC For Dream
Mirko Cro Cop Backstabs UFC For DreamBefore the sweat was dried off of Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic’s forehead after defeating Mustafa al-Turk at UFC 99 on Saturday, the heavyweight signed a three-fight contract with the popular Japanese organization, DREAM. UFC president Dana White believes that Cro Cop lied to him.

“Isn’t that a dirty (expletive) thing to do?” White told Kevin Iole of Yahoo! Sports. “He (expletive) me. The first time in the history of the company I do one over the phone. He promised me a three-fight deal and he (expletive) me.”

After a disappointing debut with the UFC in 2007, which saw Cro Cop post a 1-2 record, Cro Cop and White spoke over the phone to iron out an unprecedented one-fight deal to bring him back to the octagon for another shot.

The reasoning for the unique deal was obvious, White wanted to make sure that the striker was back to his old form, while Cro Cop wanted to showcase his skills and increase his negotiating power.

After easily disposing of Al-Turk with a wicked barrage of strikes at 3:06 in the first round, it was expected that Cro Cop would re-up with the world’s largest MMA organization in order to make a run at the strap.

“He fed me this (expletive) about wanting to take a run for the title, and what I think he did was, he went out and did this,” White stated. “He turned down every other (expletive) fighter I offered him, because I needed him to fight Cain. He didn’t just poke Al-Turk; he poked me, too.”

Conveniently, Cro Cop was not present for post-fight interviews.
