Clay Guida Eyeing The UFC Lightweight Championship
Clay Guida Eyeing The UFC Lightweight ChampionshipClay Guida has his work cut out for him as he prepares for his fight on June 20th, 2009 against Diego Sanchez at The Ultimate Fighter 9 Finale. While Sanchez may be Guida's toughest challenge to date, it doesn't stop "The Carpenter" from eyeing the lightweight championship.

"After I beat Diego Sanchez, I’m really looking forward to the UFC looking at me as the top contender," Guida told Rod Moyer of FightLine.com. "I think you have to beat the man to be the man, and right now, I know I’ve got the best skills in the UFC. I’m ready to slam people, I can wrestle, I've got good conditioning, man I can do it all! I’m well rounded on the ground, on my feet, you can always expect exciting fights. I’m just looking at getting my hand raised."

While Diego is tough as nails, Guida notes that nothing is as tough as the time he spent in Alaska on a crab fishing vessel.

"Doing Alaskan fishing makes getting into the cage seem like a walk in the park," Guida explained. "It's one of the toughest things for people to get in the cage, but try living on a fishing boat working 20 hours a day, 7 days a week for 6 months. It's hell! It’s hell on earth but I loved it. It was a great experience."

"I’m here for that belt man," Guida concluded. "What a great ride it’s been and I can’t wait, you know, getting my hand raised [on] June 20th is going to be awesome."
