Quick Shots: Lack Of Updates, Belfort Note, Foupa-Pokam Released, Russow To UFC & More- A quick apology for the lack of 'Quick Shots' over the last week. I was out of town for a wedding, and the person who was supposed to do them had something come up at the last minute. We are back to having these up daily.

- FiveOuncesOfPain confirmed yesterday that the UFC released Xavier "Professor X" Foupa-Pokam (20-10) after just two fights. Foupa-Pokam was on an eight fight win streak when he signed with the UFC earlier this year. He lost his UFC debut at UFC 97, suffering a unanimous decision loss to Denis Kang. He went on to face Drew McFedries at UFC 98, and lost via TKO (strikes) at just 0:37 of the first round.

- ChicagosMMA.com is reporting that former PRIDE heavyweight Mike Russow (11-1 1 NC) has signed a four-fight deal with the UFC. It is expected that he will fight at UFC Fight Night 19 on Septermber 16th, 2009 against an opponent yet to be determined. The Chicago police officer is a student of Matt Hughes, and is coming off of submission victories over Jason Guida and Braden Bice in Adrenaline MMA.

- MMAWeekly.com is reporting that Vitor Belfort (18-8) will face fellow Brazilian Jorge Santiago (21-7) at Affliction: Trilogy. Belfort, coming off of an impressive first round knockout victory over Matt Lindland at Affliction: Day Of Reckoning this past January, was originally believed to face Gegard Mousasi, before Mousasi signed on to face Renato “Babalu” Sobral at the event. Affliction: Trilogy is headlined by a heavyweight championship bout between WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko and Josh Barnett and will take place on August 1st in Anaheim, California.
