Mark “The Philippine Wrecking Machine” Munoz will look to come back from his first career loss later this year against Nick Catone, who also has only one loss on his record. This fight is set to take place on the undercard of UFC 102, set to broadcast from Portland, Oregon on August 29th.
Munoz recently suffered the first loss of his career against Matt “The Hammer” Hamill via vicious head kick at UFC 96. Hamill got much negative post-fight reaction for his overzealous celebration while Munoz laid KO’d on the octagon canvass. For Munoz, who clearly looked like the smaller man in his first career loss, his team has decided that a drop down to the middleweight division would be the best move for the former OSU All-American wrestler. Munoz’s fight against the Ricardo Almeida trained Nick Catone will be his first in the division.
In regards to the criticized Hamill, he will also have a change to improve on his reputation with a win in his next fight, also at UFC 96. Hamill is set to fight another fighting Filipino in the resurgent Brandon “The Truth” Vera, who is looking to avenge the loss of his countryman and good friend Munoz.
