Mark Munoz May Be Headed For Middleweight Division After Loss To Matt Hamill
Mark Munoz May Be Headed For Middleweight Division After Loss To Matt HamillAccording to a source close to the situation, the UFC and Mark Munoz are considering a drop from light-heavyweight down to middleweight.

Munoz, (5-1), who debuted this Saturday at UFC 96 against Matt Hamill, looked noticeably lighter than the taller and much stalkier Hamill. He was promptly KO'd in the first round via head kick after a few brief but exciting exchanges.

The thought in bringing Munoz over to the UFC from the WEC was that the former collegiate wrestling standout would eventually make the drop to middleweight at some point in order to help bolster the organizations weakest division.

Munoz wrestled at 189 lbs. in high school and 197 in collage and is thought to be a smallish light-heavyweight. Many believe he would be an absolute force at middleweight where he would have a size and strength advantage.

In any event, a drop seems to be in the cards for Munoz and that scenario seems even more likely after the former NCAA wrestling champion was floored by an aggressive and more physically dominant Matt Hamill.
