 Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia will face Ray Mercer in the main event of Adrenaline MMA III. The fight was first pitched as an MMA fight but later changed to a boxing contest. This event will not be broadcast on HDNET.
This will be the first action for Tim Sylvia since a July 2008 loss to Fedor Emelianenko. Meanwhile, Mercer (36-7-1 Boxing) last fought in a majority decision win over Richel Hersisia (30-2 boxing).
Mercer fought Wladimir Klitschko for the WBO heavyweight title in 2002 and lost via sixth-round TKO. Mercer is best known to MMA fans for his June 2007 submission loss in an exhibition bout with Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson.
Tim Sylvia is rumored to return to MMA at the next Affliction event against Paul Buentello.
