Round 3: Palhares suplexed Horn to the ground early. The round stayed on the ground with not much happening and they were eventually stood up with about a minute left in the round. Horn landed a big kick to the head, but Palhares took Horn back to the ground as the round ended. 10-9 Palhares.
Winner via unanimous decision (all judges scored it 30-27): Rousimar Palhares
In the post fight interview, Palhares said that he had broken his hand in the first round and did what he could after that.
Rich Franklin and Dan Henderson were shown warming up in the back.
Mark Coleman vs. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
Round 1: Shogun hit a big leg kick early, but Coleman was able to take Rua to the ground early and dropped a couple of big shots. They got back to their feet and Shogun was able to get the better of the standup before Coleman took Rua back down. Shogun was able to gain the advantage and get side control on Coleman. They got back to their feet and Rua landed some hard leg kicks. Coleman is looking tired. Rua rocked Coleman with a hard right that knocked Coleman down. Rua landed some good knees to the body to end the round. 10-9 Rua.
Round 2: Shogun started nailing leg kicks to start the round. Coleman was able to shoot and take Rua down but wasn't able to do anything and they were back up. Coleman's hands are down, and Rua is landing jabs. Rua was able to land more knees in the Thai clinch but Coleman was able to take Rua down again but they were back up. Rua landed a string of jabs and Coleman took Rua down again. Shogun is tried at this point and was attempting a omoplata as th round ended. 10-9 for Rua.
Round 3: Coleman hit a good body shot early. Coleman got Rua down again and dropped some punches to the body from the top. He dropped some elbows on Rua. The fans are chanting "Coleman". Rua turned around and went for a kneebar but Coleman was able to get out and get on top. Coleman's round so far, incredibly. Coleman has Rua's back and is landing punches. As they were getting up, Rua nailed Coleman with a knee while Coleman was getting up, and the referee paused the action thinking it was a knee to the hear (it was to the body). Rua rocked Coleman with a series a punches and pulled the referee called it off with less than 30 seconds left.
Winner via TKO (strikes): Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
In his post fight interview, Rua said Coleman was a good fighter and said that he was 100% after his knee surgery. Rua, though victorious, didn't look good tonight.
