The bout was supposed to take place at UFC 79 but a back injury forced Matt Serra out which put Matt Hughes into the Octagon against Georges St-Pierre for the interim Welterweight title, the rest is history.
Everyone knows that Matt Hughes and Matt Serra have a distinct disliking of one another, but according to a recent interview conducted by MMAJunkie, it wasn't always like that.
They were apparently friends after a UFC 41 event where they had met up a bar and even considered training with one another to work on their weaknesses.
Now at UFC 98, Matt Serra will look to send Hughes into retirement as a loss to Serra would certainly force Hughes to question whether or not he can continue fighting.
