Main Card
The UFC opening aired with comments from the fighters in the top three fights. This should be a great card. Mike Goldberg announced that the event was sold out, although I know there were tickets available this morning. They blacked out bars within 20 miles of the Target Center in Minneapolis from airing the show to encourage people to attend the event.
Jason MacDonald vs. Demian Maia
Round 1: MacDonald started off aggressive and took Maia down and Maia pulled guard. Maia locked in a deep triangle and Joe Rogan noted that it was over, but MacDonald was able to power out and get a rear naked choke! Maia escaped and MacDonald was back on top. MacDonald locked in a tight guillotine for several moments but Maia was able to get MacDonald's back and tried to secure a rear naked choke but MacDonald didn't tap as the round ended. Amazing first round, I'd score it 10-9 Maia, but MacDonald showed phenomenal heart gutting out that triangle.
Round 2: They started the round swinging and Maia caught MacDonald with a hard left. Maia took MacDonald down and landed some hard shots and elbows but MacDonald was able to intelligently defend himself. Maia dominated on the ground and tried to transition to an armbar but MacDonald was able to get out and finish the round on top. 10-9 Maia.
