 After winning an olympic gold medal in judo at the games in Beijing, Japanese super-heavyweight Satoshi Ishii is challenging WAMMA Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko to a mixed-martial-arts match-up.
As we recently reported on Fightline, Fedor's camp has publicly stated that Fedor's next opponent would likely be against a "judo legend or sumo wrestler" on New Year's Eve in Japan, an Emelianenko tradition.
With his current boom of popularity, Ishii may be the logical choice to quench the thirst of the Japanese fans desire of "freak-show" matches a la Fedor/Hong Man Choi in '07.
