In continuing with the mass exodus theme of the IFL, Matt "Suave" Horwich (23-10-1) has signed with the UFC and will debut against Ricardo Almeida at UFC 90. The event takes place October 25th and will be held at the Allstate Arena just outside of Chicago in Rosemont, Ill.
Horwich, 30, was the first ever middleweight champion of the IFL, but lost the belt in his first defense against Ryan McGivern in February. The Team Quest trained Horwich holds notable wins over UFC vets Josh Burkman and Jason Macdonald, as well as wins in the IFL over Mike Pyle and Benji Radach. His most recent win came at what ended up being the IFL's last show on May 16, he scored a unanimous decision win over former training partner Joey Guel.
