Vera, who recently moved down from heavyweight to light-heavyweight, is coming off three disappointing fights and will be looking to return to his exciting ways against the dangerous Jardine. In October of last year, Vera lost a bout to Tim Sylvia via unanimous decision and the fight was dubbed boring and uneventful. Fast-forward to UFC 85 in June, Vera loses via TKO in the first round to Fabricio Verdum, and just last weekend, Vera competed in his first bout at 205lb. and fought Reese Andy in yet another boring three round affair. To his credit, Vera won the fight, but left many critics and fans alike asking, "will the real Brandon Vera please stand up?"

Jardine also has a checkered past as of late. Looking at his last three fights we see two devastating first round losses to Houston Alexander and more recently Wanderlei Silva, and also a decision victory over Chuck Liddell. Jardine also has a devastating win of his own over the current 205lb. champion Forrest Griffin. Needless to say, he's been inconsistent. This is a fight where Jardine can prove to his critics that he is a force to be reckoned with in the LHW division, and future opponents beware of the "Dean of Mean."
