 Although no bouts, location, or venue have been announced, ProElite, Inc. Executive Chairman Doug Deluca told members of the media today via conference call that the September offering from EliteXC would air live on Showtime.
EliteXC and CBS recently struck a deal that puts "Saturday Night Fights" on live network television four times a year. This coming Saturday will mark the sophomore attempt of EliteXC and CBS to conquer the MMA world when they air "Unfinished Business" live from Stockton, CA. The main event is a rematch between Middleweight Champion Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith whose first fight back on May 31st ended in controversey over a possible early stoppage. Over six million people tuned in to watch the debut of MMA on primetime that night.
Gary Shaw and the ProElite brass have high hopes for "Unfinished Business" which boasts two other title fights. Jake Shields defends his 170lb. title against Nick Thompson and a Heavyweight Champion will be crowned when Antonio Silva takes on Justin Eilers. Other notable fights on the card are Stockton native Nick Diaz taking on Thomas Denny, and the ladies will get involved when Shayna Baszler battles the undefeated Cristiane Cyborg.
Tune into CBS this Saturday night to see if Lawler and Smith can settle their "Unfinished Business" once and for all.
