Fabricio Werdum vs. Brandon Vera

Round 1 - Fighters come out to center of cage, clinch. Vera pushes Werdum against the fence, Werdum reverses. A lot of clinching going on. Werdum grabs a single-leg and takes Vera down. Werdum is active in Vera's full guard with hammerfists. Vera pushes off, stands up. Good left hand and then short elbow from Vera. Back to center of cage. Fighters are tied up along the fence, takedown by Werdum. Passes to Vera's half-guard. Werdum gets the mount. Starts throwing punches, but Vera has his hands up. And the ref jumps in to stop the fight.

Werdum wins via ref stoppage in Rd. 1. Controversial stoppage for sure. Vera immediately gets up and complains about the fight being stopped. Vera seems to have a case - he was covering up, few shots were getting in, and only a few seconds left in the round.
