The UFC released middleweight Joe Doerksen after his UFC 83 loss to Jason MacDonald.

Doerksen dropped a the fight via TKO in early in the second round pushing his overall record in the UFC to 1-4.

He spoke with SportsNet.ca about the release and seemed optimistic about a possible return to the UFC.

"(The UFC officials) made it very clear they're very happy with the way I fight and they want me to come back. But they need me to go put a couple of wins together (first)."
