3rdRound:

The 3rdRound starts with Schultz slamming Gunderson to the mat. Not too much activity on the ground, however, Schultz is able to avance his position into a half guard preventing the Ref to stand the fighters up. Gunderson goes for a guillotine attempt, but Schultz has an underhook in and is able to escape without harm. Schultz dominates the round, keeping Gunderson in his half guard throughout the round. Another round ends similar to the first two. 3-0 Schultz.

4thRound:

Gunderson lands a nice right hook and is able to take Schultz to the mat, landing in his half guard. As Schultz tries to stand back up, Gunderson slams him back to the mat. Knowing that he is down on the cards, Gunderson has done a fantastic job of maintaining top position, however is unable to inflict much damage. He ends the round with a couple of soid knees to Schultz’ body. Could be Gunderson’s victorious round.

5thRound

The championship round starts with the most excitment that the fight has seen with Gunderson pulling Schultz into his guard attempting a tight guillotine choke. Schultz looked to be in some danger, however was able to escape and reverse top position. After inactivity, the Ref finally stands the fighters up, however Schultz takes the fight immediately to the ground landing in side mount. The fight ends with Schultz in Gunderson’s full guard. The fight didn’t quite live up to expectaction, 5thRound scores the fight 4-1 with Schultz retaining his Lightweight belt.

Unanimous decision in favor of Schultz 49-46. Schultz remains IFL Lightweight Champion

Title Fight:

Fabiano Scherner vs. Roy Nelson (Heavyweight Champion)

1stRound:

The fight starts with both fighters feeling each other out, and Nelson going for a single leg and is able to take Scherner down. Not much activity from either fighter as Nelson ends up in side control. As the fighers make it back to their feet, Nelson throws Scherner down with an emphatic slam and ends the fight as with two powerful punches to Scherner’s face. Ref stops the fight at 3:20 in the 2ndRound.

Title Fight

Matt Horwich (Middleweight Champion) vs. Ryan McGivern

1stRound:

Fight starts off as the most exciting title fight of the night as both fights stand in the center of the ring exchanging, with no one really gaining an advantage. McGivern is able to take Horwich to the mat via hip toss, but allows the champin back on his feet. There wasn’t too much activity in the middle of the round, but the round ended the same way that it began, with both fighters slugging it out. Close round, may have to give it to McGivern for the takedown, however, Horwich did land the best strike of the night with a leg kick to the body.
