Mixed Martial Arts one step closer to being sanctioned in Maryland

According to a report by the Associated Press (AP), Democratic Delegate Kirill Reznik is trying to propose a bill that will sanction the sport that has been banned in his state for over 20 years. Reznik himself has actually trained in Chinese Kempo for over 20 years, so it makes sense that he would want the sport he participates in to be sanctioned in his state. Reznik says that all states surrounding Maryland with the exception of West Virginia has sanctioned the sport.

Sanctioning a sport with a tarnished image like MMA has is tough, but Maryland would be a great location for MMA organizations because of the fact that Maryland has the highest median household income according to the 2006 U.S. Census Bureau data (credit: Baltimore Sun).

Although it will take a while for the sport to be sanctioned in Maryland, at least now the ball is rolling to get Mixed Martial Arts into the state.
