In a follow up to our article earlier this week about Dana White proclaiming that Randy Couture would fight the winner of the Tim Sylvia – Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira fight (which will happen on February 2nd), it appears that White was advised to do so by his legal team.

White was advised not to strip Couture of the UFC Heavyweight Championship since Couture’s contract says that as long as Couture is the champion, he can’t fight for another organization. There is a provision in the contract for retiring, however retiring means you can’t fight for another organization.

Meanwhile Couture maintains his stance that his fighting days for the UFC are over and the only fight he’s interested in is with Fedor Emelianenko. Couture still contends that his contractual agreements with UFC is up in October.
