Spike TV Faces Blackout In Over 13 Million Homes
Spike TV Faces Blackout In Over 13 Million HomesViacom Inc., which owns Spike TV, MTV, Comedy Central and 16 other cable channels will go dark Thursday at 12:01 a.m. for Time Warner Cable subscribers unless a new carriage fee deal with the cable company is reached.

The move would affect over 13 million households.

According to reports, Viacom has asked for fee increases of between 22 percent and 36 percent per channel, which would amount to approximately $40 million in increased fees. Time Warner Cable spokesman Alex Dudley stated that the increased fee's could affect the consumers cable bill.

"The issue is that they have asked for an exorbitant increase in their carriage fees and their network ratings are sagging," Dudley said. "Basically we're trying to hold the line for our customer."

The loss of Spike TV to 13 million subscribers would be a big blow to the UFC. The promotion uses the network as an infomercial for it's PPV's with shows such as "The Ultimate Fighter,""UFC Unleashed," pay-per-view reruns and UFC countdown shows all airing on Spike.
