 2008 Olympic gold medalist in Judoka, Satoshi Ishii, is looking to join the UFC after attending UFC 92 and visit multiple training facilities during his trip. Japanese MMA fans were shocked when Ishii turned down offers to fight in Japan to attempt to fulfill his DREAM of fighting in the UFC.
Ishii was a guest of the UFC for UFC 92 and has already begun negotiating with Dana White.
"I am looking forward to working with the UFC and to developing my mixed martial arts skills." Ishii said after UFC 92.
Although Ishii doesn't have any Mixed Martial Arts experience, Dana White knows an opportunity when he sees one as he believes Ishii's potential is big.
"Satoshi Ishii has the potential to be very successful in mixed martial arts," White said of Ishii.
If the UFC can get Ishii signed and help build him up, this may be the UFC's best shot of getting their product into the Japanese market.
