 Matt “The Law” Lindland attempted to win a seat in Oregon’s state legislature, but his bid came up short during election night as he lost to Democrat Suzanne VanOrman. The margin of victory by VanOrman was 59% to 42%.
Lindland still has some fights inside a ring or cage in his very near future though as rumored bouts between both Renato “Babalu” Sobral and possibly Vitor Belfort loom for Affliction’s officially scheduled second event on January 24th.
The loss of the seat won’t keep him down though as Lindland will be busy training both himself and fighters in his Team Quest camp that is based out of Oregon. Chael Sonnen will get another chance at Paulo Filho tonight at WEC 36, but it won’t be a title fight since Filho came in an overwhelming 7 pounds over the weight limit.
