Florian's Well Deserved Title Shot
Florian's Well Deserved Title ShotThey say you learn more from your losses than your wins. UFC Lightweight Kenny Florian is the perfect example of that clichéd saying. Following a dominating loss to Sean Sherk at UFC 64, Florian has steadily worked his way back up to contender status with impressive wins over Roger Huerta, Joe Lauzon, Din Thomas and most recently Joe Stevenson.

With his submission victory over Joe Stevenson at UFC 91, Florian now feels that he’s the number one contender to the UFC Lightweight title once again. The funny thing is, Florian didn’t even have to beat Stevenson to be the number one contender. He could’ve sat out and waited until after the BJ Penn vs. Georges St-Pierre fight for his title shot.

Always a warrior and competitor though, Florian took the risk of another big fight because he didn’t want to have too much time off between fights. That bet paid off as he further solidified himself as BJ Penn’s next opponent.

After beating Stevenson, Florian spoke directly to BJ Penn and said, “I think you're a great fighter, someone I look up to. I consider you a master. It's time to kill that master.”

All Florian has to do now is sit and wait, will he?
