Tom Atencio Confirms UFC Meeting
Tom Atencio Confirms UFC MeetingAffliction Entertainment vice president Tom Atencio confirmed that he and UFC management did have exploratory talks in late September. Affliction’s intentions for the meeting was for the UFC to allow heavyweight champion Randy Couture wear his Xtreme Couture Clothing brand, a sub-division of Affliction Clothing, in his fight against Brock Lesnar at UFC 91 on November 15th.

FiveOuncesOfPain spoke with Atencio early Monday morning and confirmed Affliction’s intentions with the UFC.

“It was just a basic meeting to help get Xtreme Couture on Randy (Couture) since Randy is our partner, so that’s what the meeting was really about,” Atencio told the website.

Last week’s report was that the UFC was willing to lift the ban that they had placed on their fighters from wearing Affliction clothing, if Affliction agreed to refrain from promoting future MMA events. Atencio said that although the topic came up, nothing substantial ever came from it.

“It didn’t really get into any details like that,” he said. “No, there was no offer made, so why would we give it any consideration?”

Affliction is intending to hold their second ever MMA event, “Day of Reckoning,” on January 24th. The main event will feature WAMMA heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianeko taking on former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski.
