There has been much speculation about Forrest Griffin's next opponent. In a post-fight press conference after his upset victory over Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, Griffin called out Keith Jardine, the man that knocked him out last December.
Griffin was also himself called out by Wanderlei Silva, a Chute Boxe member and good friend of Shogun. Griffin had this to say in response to Silva's challenge according to MMA Weekly:
“We were in the hotel lobby and I was doing an interview with someone and they’re like ‘Wanderlei just said he wants to fight you’ and I was like ‘Right now, really, right now? He wants to fight me? I know he’s a Chute Boxe guy, but right now?’ And they were like no, no, no … in December.”
Asked if Silva's December fight date would hinder his chances of making the fight with Silva because of injuries sustained in the Shogun fight Griffin responded,“It kind of would, yeah,” said Griffin. “I’d love to fight him if I didn’t have a giant hole in my face right now.
Another fight that could interest Griffin is a rematch with Tito Ortiz. When asked which rematch would be more appealing Griffin stated, "That’s tough. That's like saying do you want Sara Lee or do you want Little Debbie?”
I think fight fans would take either one.
