This meeting was the first time Couture and White have talked since the night before their dual press conferences. Dave Meltzer reported that the two had sent text messages to each other several weeks ago, however there was never a planned meeting.

White had been saying that the two did have a scheduled meeting, however he and Couture got their Tuesdays mixed up. Despite the two not speaking until last week, the lawyers for both sides had been talking.
