Kurt Angle, former Olympian and current professional wrestler, has apparently entered into serious negotiations with the IFL. According to multiple sources, including MMAWeekly, IFL comissioner Kurt Otto and Angle are working on a deal that would allow Angle to continue his pro wrestling career while simultaneously embarking on his first foray into professional mma.
“I’m psyched," said Otto. "He’s pretty open about it, which is good. We’re in talks. We’re excited about the opportunity.”
While Angle has been in talks with other organizations, Otto is confident that they will reach an agreement.
“Kurt Angle really wants to come on board. He wants to learn MMA and he wants to come to the IFL specifically because of the team format because he’s used to that.”
The fact that Angle wants to continue his pro wrestling career as well seems to have played a big part in his decision to work with the IFL.
"God willing, the IFL and myself can make a deal," Angle told Alex Marvez of FOXSports.com recently. "The best fit for me right now as a pro wrestler who [works] about 120 times a year is the IFL."
