Back in early 2014, Neil Seery appeared inside the Octagon in his native country of Ireland, scoring a decision over Phil Harris.
Saturday, the father of four improved upon his own performance, scoring a submission win vs. Jon Delos Reyes to open the UFC Fight Night 76 main card from Dublin.
Seery (16-11) improved to 3-2 over five Octagon appearances, having fought now in Ireland, Las Vegas, Sweden and London.
“The only reason we keep going is because of this, because of the fans,” Seery said. “Nothing else. I don’t need nothing else. The energy of the crowd is what gets me going.”
Early in the fight, Seery almost had Reyes locked up with the hold, but he was unable to secure it. In the second round, he wasn’t going to let him get away.
“I felt him tap, but I was holding on just in case,” he said.
