Nate Marquardt returned to the UFC this year and hasn’t found much luck after a quick knockout. He’s been talking to God as of late to discover his next move.
“I can lose to somebody who on paper I shouldn’t lose to, and then I lose two in a row like that, and to me, that’s just God saying ‘you can try as hard as you want, but if your heart’s not in the right spot, I’m not gonna let you have that,'” said Marquardt.
This year, the former Strikeforce welterweight champion suffered a decision defeat to Tarec Saffiedine and was knocked out by Jake Ellenberger. He now takes on former Bellator middleweight champ Hector Lombard.
Lombard is 1-2 for the UFC and lost in a split-decision to Yushin Okami. He drops to welterweight for the Marquardt meeting.
They’re on the prelims of UFC 166 this Saturday, October 19. It’s from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX.
