Nate Diaz didn’t want to make excuses for his performance at UFC 202 Saturday night.
But in a way he did.
Diaz stated that he was injured in training and had a poor camp, which led to his majority decision loss to Conor McGregor.
“He should have finished me,” Diaz said. “Good job, but we’re going for three.”
In the first meeting, Diaz locked up a second round rear-naked choke to submit McGregor. This time, he survived several knockdowns by the reigning UFC featherweight champion to push him 25 minutes.
Despite the injuries and poor training camp, Diaz still felt he did enough to win.
“I thought I won that fight,” he stated. “I’m to really for this sport.”
