Nate Diaz will return to the Octagon for the first time in what will be over a year to face Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on FOX 13. Officials made the fight announcement Tuesday evening.
Set for December 13 from Phoenix, Diaz-dos Anjos will serve as the co-main event to headliners Junior dos Santos and Stipe Miocic.
Diaz (17-9) finished Gray Maynard last November for his first win since 2012, but found himself stuck in a legal battle with the promotion afterwards. The former No. 1 contender wanted to re-work his contract, but UFC president Dana White stated numerous times they would not do that.
Diaz signed a new deal prior to facing Benson Henderson for the title in 2012. He lost via decision to Henderson, and was also finished by Josh Thomson in 2013.
Dos Anjos (22-7) is coming off the biggest win of his career, finishing Henderson in August. He has won two straight and is 7-1 in his last eight overall, falling only by decision to Khabib Nurmagomedov.
