If Wanderlei Silva was hoping to return to the cage this year in the U.S, the Nevada Athletic Commission put the hammer down on that.
The NAC confirmed Wednesday that they have suspended Silva for three years, dating back to May 2014, during their meeting in Las Vegas. “The Axe Murderer” can re-seek his fight license next year, but will have to supply a clean drug test to do so.
Silva was originally given a lifetime ban and fined after evading a random drug test ahead of his fight with Chael Sonnen. After the lifetime ban was overturned, Silva was granted his release from the UFC to seek employment elsewhere.
Currently, Silva is set to be part of the Bellator 149 “Fan-Fest” event this week.
