The MMA Word is a weekly video podcast, where host Michael Wellman offers up his views and opinions on the latest headlines in mixed martial arts, as well as interviews with fighters and prominent figures from around the world of combat sports. For Episode #29, Mike is joined by fellow MMA journalist Chris Leslie.
After a few weeks off, the UFC is set to destroy our collective consciousness with 13 events in as many weeks. Here’s what we’ve got lined up for this week’s show:
–I give my thoughts on a few recent news items, including the Dan Henderson vs Daniel Cormier fight that is ‘in the works’, as well as the idea of Melvin Guillard getting a title shot in WSOF.
–Chris Leslie is back on the show this week to discuss some recent occurrences, including the officiating in the Kongo vs Minakov fight all Bellator 115, and the status of the UFC’s women’s bantamweight division
–We take a look at the main card for the UFC’s next trip to Abu Dhabi, which is headlined by a heavyweight fight between Roy Nelson and Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira, and also featuring a featherweight between Tatsuya Kawajiri and Clay Guida. We make some predictions and breakdown the matchups on the main card.
–With so many fight cards coming up, we figured we’d get a little bit ahead of ourselves with previewing upcoming fights, and take a look at the TUF: Nations Finale card headlined by Michael Bisping vs Tim Kennedy, and featuring the finale of a TUF season that we admittedly didn’t watch much of.
