On the heels of another busy weekend in mixed martial arts, which included two UFC events, The MMA Word Podcast returns to Fightline.com to break down all the pressing news stories of the past week in MMA. UFC Fight Night shows in Stockholm, Sweden, and Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada taking place almost back-to-back made for a long Saturday of fights to consume. We also learned last week that Cung Le tested positive for excess HGH after his recent loss to Michael Bisping, and who will be next in line for the title in the UFC’s featherweight division.

Weekend Recap: Rory MacDonald established himself as the top contender for the UFC welterweight title and Rick Story ran Gunnar Nelson’s hype train right off the tracks. Recapping the action from this past weekend, including Jim Ross and Chael Sonnen calling the Battlegrounds MMA tournament.
Cung Le Tests Positive: Cung Le is the latest UFC fighter to test positive for banned substances coming out of his Fight Night Macau loss to Michael Bisping in August. I’ll go over Cung’s response to the test and subsequent one-year suspension by the UFC, and Zuffa’s revamped drug testing measures as a whole.
There’s Only One Conor McGregor: And he’s the No. 1 contender at featherweight. UFC President Dana White told UFC.com last week that Conor McGregor will likely be the next featherweight title challenger. White noted that the other contenders at featherweight have already lost to the champion, Jose Aldo. At 4-0 in the UFC, has McGregor proven himself yet inside the Octagon?
Fights Announced This Week: Cummins vs Carlos Jr., Schilling vs Manhoef in Bellator, and the resigning of Josh Burkman by the UFC to face Hector Lombard. An epic lightweight fight was also announced for Mexico City between Joe Lauzon and Diego Sanchez.
