Mirsad Bektic didn’t let a change in opponent keep him up late at night ahead of UFC 204.
Instead, the fighter went about his business in handling Russell Doane and scoring a second round submission win via rear-naked choke.
Since signing with the UFC, Bektic (11-0) has earned four wins – including a second straight finish after stopping Lucas Martins last May.
“I’ve been a prospect for a long time,” Bektic said. “I’m not a prospect anymore.
“I’m a contender and that’s that.”
Originally, Bektic was to meet England’s Arnold Allen, but an injury knocked Allen out of the pay-per-view main card opener.
Doane suffered his fourth consecutive loss, falling to 14-7 overall.
