Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic is returning to the UFC, agreeing to a new deal with the promotion and a fight this spring.
Filipovic confirmed the news on his own personal website after winning three of four fights.
“Dear friends, the information appearing on various portals about my return to the UFC are correct,” he wrote. “The first fight I have in April. Thank you all for your support.”
Known for his devastating head kicks, Filipovic, who will turn 41 this September, earned back-to-back victories over Satoshi Ishii in 2014. His first run with the UFC ended in 2011 after three straight knockout losses to Roy Nelson, Brendan Schaub and Frank Mir.
“There are some fights that would really like to do before the end of his career,” he said. “It’s about some rematch that I want more than anything else, regardless of whether I win or not, I’ll fix the maximum and give really do my best, thank the UFC what I signed which will provide it for me.”
During his career, Filipovic has scored victories over the likes of Josh Barnett (three times), Wanderlei Silva, Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman.
