Miesha Tate’s career will be defined by her incredible rivalry with Ronda Rousey.
After suffering a second straight defeat Saturday night at UFC 205, Tate announced her immediate retirement from the sport.
“I love you all so much,” she said. “Thank you so much.
“I will love this sport forever, it just isn’t my time anymore.”
Tate, a former UFC bantamweight champion, dropped the title in July to Amanda Nunes. She lost via decision to Raquel Pennington, who she coached on The Ultimate Fighter 18.
“I’ve taken a lot of punishment,” she said. “I still love this sport, but it is time for me.”
