Michael McBride, who will be competing for the Midwest Cage Championship lightweight title later this month, has signed to make his debut with Bellator MMA in October.
McBride, a native of Webster City, Iowa, will be competing on the October 17 Bellator card set for Council Bluffs. No opponent has been confirmed at this time.
“I want to say thank you to all of my training partners, family, friends and sponsors for supporting me on my journey,” McBride wrote on Facebook. “Big thanks to my beautiful wife for always being by my side.
“Less than two weeks I will be fighting for the MCC lightweight title then making my Bellator debut. I will continue to find my strength in the Lord on the road ahead. Let’s do this.”
McBride (5-1) is set to meet Paul Hunhoff for the title on September 19 at MCC 55 in Des Moines. He earned a submission victory – the fifth of his career – vs. Micah Washington in April after a decision loss to Emmanuel Sanchez this past October fighting for Resurrection Fighting Alliance.
Johnny Case previously held the MCC lightweight championship before signing with the UFC.
