Call it what one will, but Michael Chiesa was not happy how UFC on FOX in July ended. With one second left in round two, Jorge Masvidal used a d’arce choke to claim the victory. A pissed off Chiesa stormed out of the Octagon and didn’t stay for the official announcement.
“First and foremost, it was unsportsmanlike of me to storm out of the cage,” said Chiesa to Bleacher Report. “[I was] just frustrated. I trained really hard for the fight. I lost by a second. The first thing the ref said to me was ‘man, you know you only had one second’ and I was like “screw you, Dan Miragliotta.” Right after I heard that I just left.”
It wasn’t the finest moment for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 winner. He was undefeated with nine wins before tapping. Chiesa will look to get back into the swing of things as he meets Colton Smith at UFC Fight Night 31.
Smith is also a fellow TUF winner, claiming season 16. He’s 1-1 for the UFC and enters off a TKO defeat to Robert Whittaker.
UFC Fight Night 31 is November 6 and comes from Fort Campbell in Kentucky. Their placement on the card isn’t known.
