Maximum Fighting Championship (MFC) 38 is 24 hours away and fans will see history as a new middleweight champion will be crowned. Jason South takes on Sam Alvey for the vacant belt.
“This one is definitely going to be one of my toughest to date because [Alvey] doesn’t go away,” said South to MMA Weekly. “He’s only been finished once. He’s got a granite chin, is well-rounded, and is going to be a challenge for me to get a win and a finish too.”
South, a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 16, is undefeated as a pro with 10 wins. “The Mover” took nine by submission and one via stoppage. He has spent the last few years fighting out of Utah’s Showdown Fights.
Alvery has fought twice this year, going 1-1 for MFC. He suffered a decision defeat to Elvis Mutapcic, which was followed with a third round stoppage of Jay Silva.
MFC 38 is tomorrow, October 4, from Canada’s Shaw Conference Centre and they serve as the main event. The complete main card can be seen on AXS TV.
