Maximum Fighting Championship has added yet another title match to MFC 40 in May, as Kevin Croom will square off with Anthony Birchak for the bantamweight title.
Set for May 9, the card airs from the Shaw Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The main card will be broadcast by AXS TV.
Croom (14-4) won eight fights in 2013, including seven first round finishes.
“I’m just a guy from a lower-middle class family from Missouri, so being the MFC champion would mean the world to me,” Croom said. “It would be the coolest thing to ever happen in my life.
“I’ve been fighting for seven years and it took me five-and-a-half years to find the right formula. I’ve found the correct frequency to operate on.”
Croom will compete later this month at Titan FC 27 against Bryan Goldsby. The MFC press release did state a loss by Croom would keep him from fighting for the title.
Birchak is 11-1 and has won five straight. He will be one of three MFC champion defending his belt on the card.
Sam Alvey defends his middleweight title and Tom Gallicchio and Kurt Southern collide for the lightweight belt.
