Matt Riddle’s short lived retirement won’t go done as the quickest, but it ranks up there. A few weeks back, Riddle went to Twitter to announce his sudden retirement. He stated an injury would sideline his Bellator debut and the turnaround time was too long.
That has changed and he’s back at Bellator 109 with an opponent to be announced.
“I basically threw a hissy fit and retired,” said Riddle to MMA Junkie. “[But Bellator] called me up and said, ‘we didn’t realize your situation.’ They gave me an advance, they gave me money and the fight in the November, and they’ve already got me scheduled for the tournament in January or February.”
Riddle was released by the UFC after failing two drug tests for marijuana. He’s 7-3 and spent his entire career under the UFC banner.
Bellator 109 is November 22 from the Sands Casino Event Center in Bethlehem, PA.
